Burgundy Seminar: Differences in Terroir

No doubt, Burgundy is one of the most expensive wines in the world and to the connoisseur, much of it is about its origins.  If you are considering investing in Burgundy, or if you are already a Burgundy fan this is the class for you.  First we taste three whites to demonstrate the buttery nuttiness of Meursault, the intense minerality of Chassagne-Montrachet and the unbeatable elegance of Puligny-Montrachet.  Then we move on to the reds from Volnay, Pommard, Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-St-Georges.

You will:

  • learn step by step how the taste profiles of these villages differ
  • discover your taste preferences for each
  • peek into how aging will affect each type of wine
  • discuss the importance of vintage in Burgundy
  • learn about some of the best producers in the region
  • walk out with a strategy in how to hedge your bets in Burgundy

And, taste some great wines and cheeses while all this is happening…
