Off-the-beaten-path:
The Wine & Cheese of Italy
Even though Italian Cuisine is a cornerstone of the New York dining scene, many of the staggering array of Italian wines and cheeses are still unknown here. Join Tasting World's Director Dilek Caner, and Murray's Cheese Fromager Chris Munsey on a pairing tour of fantastic lesser known formaggi and vini from the foothills of the Alps to the sun-soaked shores of Sardinia. Chris will explain the concept of artisanal cheeses versus factory produced versions and Dilek will introduce the great value behind Italy's native grapes. The clash of tradition and modernity exists in both wine and cheese production of Italy, so we'll give you the insider scoop on that as well. All this, while you sample food friendly sparkler Franciacorta, rustic red Lagrein, dark and aromatic Aglianicos paired with delicate leaf wrapped robiolas, robust, smoky pecorino and a cheese that's burried in the ground. A fun and unusual evening not to be missed.
8 different wines and 6 different cheeses will be tasted.
